How to find archived news articles? ›

Your best bet is often to use a news clipping service like Metro Monitor. These services can help you locate and obtain any TV news clip you need quickly and easily, so you don't have to spend hours trying to track it down yourself.

Google News Archive is an extension of Google News. It provides free access to scanned archives of newspapers and links to other newspaper archives on the web, both free and paid. Some of the news archives date back to the 18th century. There is a timeline view available to help you select news from a specific period.

How to find news from 20 years ago? ›

To find stories from 1995 or before, you can search for scanned newspaper articles. Go to google.com and type in site:google.com/newspapers, followed by the search terms you'd like to use. For example, site:google.com/newspapers “NASA putting man on Mars”. This should yield any scanned articles on your topic.

Library archives: Many libraries have archives of old TV news broadcasts, which can be accessed in person or online. For example, the Library of Congress has a large collection of television news broadcasts from the 1950s to the present, which can be accessed through their website.

You can try to do a Boolean Search, on any search engine — and include all of the details that you do know about this particular TV show. Do you know the basic premise of the plot, or the story? Search on that plot detail, and add the words “TV show” or “TV Series.”
