Texas district proposes building most expensive high school football stadium ever at nearly $100 million just four years after opening $48 million facility (2024)
TexasHSFootball.com is among the media outlets reporting that the Prosper Independent School District has proposed a bond that could result in the most expensive high school football stadium ever built. The $2.8 billion package includes $94 million for the stadium.
The proposed 8,000-seat stadium would be built in addition to the Children's Health Stadium opened in 2019 by the district for $48 million.
The fast-growing district, which already serves Prosper, Rock Hill (Frisco) and Walnut Grove (Prosper), is reported to enroll as many as 3,000 new students annually, according to TexasHSFootball.com.

The 8,000-seat venue could be the costliest in state history. Few towns represent the Texas ethos of Friday Night Lights — and the big money behind it — more than the Dallas exurb of Prosper.
The proposed $94-million stadium will be in addition to the district's 12,000-seat Children's Health Stadium, a nearly $50-million venue opened in 2019. If Prop C passes, the goal would be to have the new stadium open in 2028 when the district will have five high schools up and running.
This is Allen High School, the largest high school in the state of Texas. Allen is about 32 minutes north of Dallas, and it's a growing area as well. They're the largest high school in the state of Texas. with an average of 6,947 students attending.
Prosper High School opened in 2009 at a construction cost of $113.5 million, believed to be the most expensive high school in Texas at the time. In 2020, the district opened Rock Hill High School, with a price tag of around $200 million. Walnut Grove High School opened this fall at a cost that topped $200 million.
The $260 million facility is a joint project with the city of Frisco and the school district, along with the Cowboys. The city paid $60 million and the district is paying $30 million. The Cowboys will pick up the rest of the bill.
