Should I delete the individual Microsoft 365 apps? Or can I keep them?

The Microsoft 365app for Android works independently of any individual Microsoft 365apps that you may have installed on your phone already (such as Word, Excel, or PowerPoint). You can either keep the individual Microsoft 365apps on your phone, or delete them to reclaim storage space — the choice is yours!

For more information, see Delete or disable apps on Android and Reinstall and re-enable apps on Android.

We strongly recommend that you fully back up your device data before deleting any apps.

Note:If another version of the Microsoft 365 app (previously Office app) was pre-installed on your Samsung Galaxy device, downloading the newer version will upgrade the older app.

Where can I save new files?

If you are signed into Microsoft 365 with a work or school account, your documents and files are saved in the Documents folder on OneDrive for Business.

If you are using a personal Microsoft account (such as an outlook.com email address), your files will be saved in the Documents folder on your personal OneDrive account (with the exception of Scan Text, which is saved to your device but can be shared).

When working with PDF files in the Microsoft 365app for Android, you’ll be prompted to choose a location where you want to save.

Note:If you are not signed in, your documents and files are automatically saved to your device.

How does text conversion from image captures work and what languages are supported?

The effectiveness of OCR depends on the quality of the image you’re working with, as well as the complexity, legibility, and the amount of text shown in the picture.

After you convert text from an image, you can review it to make sure it was recognized properly. For more information about currently supported OCR languages, see Microsoft Lens for Android.

After converting text from image captures, will the images be saved?

No, captured images from which you’ve converted text will not be saved to the Gallery on your Android device.
