Use the right pot
When using corn syrup to make cooked sweets or baked goods, be sure to always use a heavy-bottomed pan to prevent the pan from tipping over or the sugars from scorching.
Line your pan
Prevent your sweets or baked goods from sticking to your pan by lining it with greased foil before placing your mixture into the pan. This ensures that sticky no-bake bars or fudge release from the pan easily after cooling.
Try non-stick spray
For easy cleanup on measuring cups or baking pans, remember to spray with a non-stick spray.
Check temperature

What is Corn Syrup?
Corn syrup is a mildly sweet syrup derived from corn starch. It serves many different functions, but it’s mainly used in recipes to provide sweetness, moisture and a smooth texture to cooked sweets and baked goods.
Nutrition
Corn syrup is a sweetener derived from fresh corn picked and processed at its peak for flavor and sweetness. This is the ingredient in Karo® Corn Syrups used for baking.
All Karo® Syrups are gluten free and do not contain any high fructose corn syrup.
The Corn Syrup Difference
Corn syrup serves different purposes depending on the recipe. Most often, it is used to give dishes sweetness and moisture.
Unlike sugar, corn syrup can prevent crystallization while giving a smooth texture to cooked sweets and baked goods. Its many different uses don’t stop there—corn syrup can also enhance the fresh fruit flavor in jams and preserves, and give balance to savory dishes.
And a fun secret for all bakers: Karo® Light and Karo® Dark perform similarly in recipes and can be used interchangeably in your favorite recipes.
Corn Syrup V. High Fructose Corn Syrup
High fructose corn syrup starts with regular corn syrup, which is modified by further processing and treated with enzymes to break it into two different forms of sweeteners, fructose and glucose.
In contrast, corn syrup is a sweetener derived from fresh corn picked and processed at its prime for flavor and sweetness. This is the main ingredient for Karo® Light Corn Syrup and Karo® Dark Corn Syrup, which makes them great for a variety of loved recipes and baking traditions.
Neither Karo® Light Corn Syrup or Karo® Dark Corn Syrup contain high fructose corn syrup.
Storage
Before or after opening, Karo® Corn Syrups may be stored at room temperature. Light corn syrup may turn slightly yellow with age, but this is normal and not harmful. For best results, we recommend using Karo® Syrups before the "Best by" date stamped on the bottle.
