The holiday season is all about celebrating with creativity and joy. What better way to usher in the festive spirit than by crafting a one-of-a-kind Grape Christmas Tree made entirely of delicious green grapes? In this post, I’ll show you how to transform ordinary grapes into an extraordinary centrepiece that will light up your holiday gatherings.

Ingredients/Supplies

  • 2.7 kg (6 lbs) green grapes (~ 200 grapes)
  • star cookie cutter
  • a 12.4 cm x 30 cm (4.9 in x 11.9 in) styrofoam or recycled plastic cone usually used for crafts & flower arrangements
  • plastic wrap/cling film to wrap around the cone
  • ~200 toothpicks
  • a star ornament for the top of the tree; you can also cut this out of a pineapple slice or a cheddar cheese block using a star-shaped cookie cutter

Directions

Watch this video to see how to make the Grape Christmas Tree or read the instructions below.

Begin by placing the styrofoam or recycled plastic cone on your workspace. This cone will serve as the sturdy base for your Green Grape Christmas Tree.

To ensure the cone is food-safe and provide a stable surface, wrap it securely with plastic wrap or cling film. Ensure complete coverage.

Take your green grapes and rinse them thoroughly under cold water. Pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.

Starting at the base of the cone, insert toothpicks into individual grapes. These toothpicks will act as skewers to attach the grapes to the cone.

Carefully attach the grapes to the cone by pressing them onto the plastic-wrapped surface. Begin at the bottom and work your way up in rows. Ensure that the grapes are closely packed to form the first layer of your grape Christmas tree.

As you continue to work your way up, add more rows of toothpick-skewered grapes. The tree will gradually take shape and taper towards the top.

To add a final touch of holiday magic, add a star topper for your grape tree.

Or, you can use a star-shaped cookie cutter to cut a star out of a pineapple slice or a cheddar cheese block. Place the star to the very top of your grape tree using a toothpick to secure it in place.

Your Green Grape Christmas Tree is now ready to grace your holiday table as a natural and delightful centrepiece. Share it with your guests and invite them to pluck off the juicy grapes and enjoy the fresh burst of flavour.

Creating a Green Grape Christmas Tree is not only a feast for the eyes but also a refreshing and healthy addition to your holiday celebration. It’s a perfect way to embrace the natural beauty of the season and share the joy of delicious, nature-inspired decor. Share the freshness, share the fun, and have a very grapeful holiday season!
