The love affair that once was mobster Sonny (Maurice Benard) and hit man Jason (Steve Burton), and having each others back, is now apparently over! On the Thursday April 25th episode of General Hospital, an increasingly paranoid Sonny is confronted by Jason.
Jason wants to talk to Sonny about a “family matter”, but Sonny says they aren’t family now because he’s working with the Feds. Sonny goes on to say how he cannot trust Carly (Laura Wright) or Jason and he knows about Jason buying back the Metro Court for Carly from Nina (Cynthia Watros).
When the conversation turns to Josslyn (Eden McCoy) and Dex (Evan Hofer), Jason informs Sonny that Kristina (Kate Mansi) knows Sonny ordered a hit. Jason is worried about Dex’s safety. He tells Sonny that if he does something to Dex, Kristina will figure out that he is responsible.

Sonny goes on to say how much he loves his kids and how he will protect them. He then tears into Jason for abandoning his sons, Danny and Jake, for two years and how he has no right to stand there to tell him what to do.
Jason warns Sonny again to leave Dex alone or he’ll personally stop him. Sonny snaps at Jason, countering, “You’ll die trying!” And at that point, Jason walks out and Sonny slams the door behind him.
What do you think about this split in the longstanding relationship of Jason and Sonny? Do you like Jason and Sonny at odds? Will Kristina be the person to ultimately figure out what is happening to Sonny, or it might it be Nina, who knows Ava (Maura West) is up to no good? Share your thoughts in the comment section, but first watch this clip from part of the Sonny/Jason scenes below.

I definitely love the split between Jason and Sonny. I know I’m not in the majority but I think it spices the show up a bit. Besides we all know that in a few months, when it comes out that Sonny’s meds were basically placebos, he’ll accept Jason back into his family again.

I think your right if he’s not in jail or dead with Ave’s games! She’s bad news, but who switched Sonny’s meds? I put money on it it’s Cyris and his I have changed act to take over the waterfront!

Valentin is responsible for tampering with Sonny’s meds. After Valentin took over running the Pikeman Group, he admitted to Brennan that he changed Sonny’s medication. Valentin/Pikeman figures once Sonny falls, he can take over the docks to ship their weapons, etc. It’s not Cyrus, but I do believe he is involved with Pikeman.
I also love the split between Jason and Sonny. It’s a different change of pace. I hope Jason stays out of Sonny’s organization but they still become family again.

Sonny dropped a truth bomb of his own onto Jason. Jason did abandon his sons and let them think they were dead. All of this for a grown woman who did it all to herself. I don’t think Sason will end. Let’s not forget when Sonny was off his meds last time. Jason took the business. Sonny was dating Emily at the time. Jason helped Sonny out, and it will be the same this time. The real problem here is the singular focus that Jason has on Carly. Nothing else matters and it really does not makes him look good at all. He looks like a neglectful father who let them suffer unnecessarily. Sorry to say, but if the show continues to make the entire show about Carly, I think my viewership will be going to The Gates. No longer wish to watch the petty games the writers play. They have held Jason hostage and stuck to Carly’s back side for over 25 years. It’s time for Jason to grow up.

It’s time to put the aging mobster and those of us that enjoy the hospital show out of our misery. Sonny is in everything.

The show hasn’t been all about the hospital since 1977. And it almost got cancelled then, as a result. It was also near cancellation in the early 1990s, though that had less to do with hospital stories and more with the lesser cousins of the Spencers, the Eckerts, a cartoonish villain cartel led by the cartoonishly named “Leopold Taub” and the most ridiculous GH character ever, Casey the Alien.
It took a certain dimpled coffee importer to pull GH out of that slump. And the return of Luke & Laura helped, of course.

I loved Casey; and I wish Michael Easton’s vampire character who had come over to GH had stayed. Anything but deadly disease stories one after another. I’d rather escape with aliens and vampires and let my imagination run free than get depressed and go through soapy angst about real diseases that can hit or have hit any of us or those we love.

The show does need balance, you also had riveting medical related stories in the 90s – Stone/Robin and AIDS/HIV, BJ/Maxie heart transplant and Monica’s breast cancer.

Soap fans first met Jack Wagner back in 1984 when he joined General Hospital as Frisco Jones. While they loved Frisco and Felicia’s (Kristina Wagner) on-screen romance, one might recall that when Frisco first came to town he was the lead singer of Blackie’s (John Stamos) band, Blackie and the Riff Raff.
During his early days on GH, Wagner was also working on his rising musical career, which put him at a serious crossroads. Things got even more challening, when Jack became a pop star after the release of his 1985 single, “All I Need” which hit the Top 10. The character of Frisco actually sang the song on GH, before it went on to become a mega-hit.
While Wagner appeared on GH through 1995, and again reprised the part for several episodes back in 2013, fans do this day miss him and hope one day he might return.

Speaking with PEOPLE, Wagner admitted his inner conflict with being a soap star, while trying to have a successful musical career. Jack reflected, “I used to battle it, because it was so hard for me being in the music business and coming from a soap to be taken legitimately as a singing artist. It took time to let go of that, but now I embrace it. If I can make someone’s day by going down memory lane, it makes myday.”

In his early musical days, Wagner releases six albums, and his role on GH didn’t hurt the frenzy surrounding seeing him live. “I would sell concerts out in an hour or two,” Jack admitted.
Looking back at the GH hey day, in which he was a part of, Wagner added, “It really was incredible how popular the show was in the ’80s. It was crazy, because back then, people would join fan clubs, and there would be bags and bags of fan letters. I took it in stride, because it was just sort of the things (that) happened to Tony Geary (ex-Luke), Rick Springfield (ex-Noah) and John Stamos, who were ‘teen idols,’ I guess you would call us, back then.”
Wagner currently appears on Hallmark’s When Calls the Heart Sundays at 9 p.m. ET

After much speculation, General Hospital’s Jon Lindstrom (Kevin) and Cady McClain (ex-Jennifer, DAYS, ex-Rosanna, ATWT, ex-Dixie, AMC et al) have officially confirmed and announced they have gone their separate ways and have ended their marriage.
For months on social media, it was clear that the two were seemingly apart, not appearing pictured in any of each others posts.
Now, on a mutually shared Instagram post, Jon and Cady made an official statement on the status of their relationship, beginning with “Cady and Jon here. We are taking this opportunity to make a short statement about our relationship status. It may be obvious to some based on our posts that we’ve taken some time apart. After serious consideration we have decided that our goals have been taking us in different directions and to end our marriage.”

As to the future, Jon and Cady explained, “We remain friends and wish each other every happiness. As people who work in the public eye, it can be difficult to have a private life. Regardless, we ask for your kind consideration in this matter.”
Jon and Cady met when they both appeared on As the World Turns, he as Craig Montgomery, and she as Rosanna Cabot. After four years together, the couple decided to get married in 2014.

Nikolas Cassadine will be back on your screens next week but now via Pentonville. That means, that actor Adam Huss is back for a visit for all-new episodes of General Hospital.
In story, Ava (Maura West) comes to visit her ex in the slammer. So, just what does Ava want now? She clearly has been working an agenda on Sonny (Maurice Benard). Is she working with Valentin (James Patrick Stuart)? What will she tell Nikiolas? stay tuned.
Meanwhile, once news of Huss’ return broke earlier on Friday via Soap Opera Digest, he also announced his return on his Instagram expressing, “For all those who’ve been asking, cat’s out of the bag;) Thank you to all my #Nikolas #GH fans for your unwavering support. I don’t take it for granted for a second! (Even when I can’t answer 😊) #generalhospital”

Huss took over the role of Nikolas back in January of 2023, after Marcus Coloma left the soap opera. Previous to that, Huss filed in for Coloma in September of 2021 and November of 2022. Fast-forward to January of 2024, Nikolas gave Ace to Laura and Kevin to raise, while he eventually turned himself into the police for kidnapping Esme and keeping her hostage while she was pregnant and Wyndemere.

The return of Huss comes on the heels of multiple reports that his on-screen son, Nicholas Chavez is not returning to the show as Spencer Cassadine, while in story Spencer is believed to have drowned int the Seine River after falling off a boat in France, when drugged by Esme.
So, looking forward to seeing Adam Huss back as Nikolas? Do you think GH will eventually have him more full-time? Comment below.
